In the Greco-Roman tradition there were 7 Liberal Arts. comrised of a Trivium (Grammar, Dialectic (i.e. Logic) and Rhetoric) and Quadrivium (Arithmetic, Geometry, Music, Astronomy). In the Medieaval period these essentially became the undergraduate curriculum with graduate studies focussed on Law, Medicine and Theology.
