logikos
The Greek logikos means both speaking and logic. In the West, Aristotle played an important role in establishing logic as a major field. Logic as Dialectic was originally one of the 3 components of the Trivium. Traditional logic focussed on Divisio and Partitio as approaches to Syllogism. Over the centuries logic has shifted from a basic branch of the Humanisties to a fundamental branch of the Mathematics and the Exact Sciences: e.g. Quantitative logic and Mathemetical Logic.
