Hebrew 07: Zayin

Zain is the seventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet and means sword. This sword functions as the flaming sword of the Cabala and unites the days in one lightning swoop. In terms of the Tarot the letter Zain relates to Gemini and Lovers. Here the interpretation has shifted from days of the week to months of the year. In the old traditions (e.g. the Celtic calendar) the year ended with the end of October. November was thus the first month of the new year. Accordingly December was month 2, January was Month 3 and May was month 7, the month of lovers. The Phoenician equivalent is Zayn and means weapon.
"The Woman of Valor Sceptre of a King Weapon - sword; ornament or crown; species - gender; to sustain. Seven lamps of the menorah; seven categories of Jewish souls. Seven shepherds of Israel: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joseph, and David. Seven circuits, seven blessings, and seven days of celebration of groom and bride. Seven Rabbinic mitzvot.
