Kokuzo Bosatsu

Kokuzo Bosatsu or Kokuzo Bodhisattva is one of the 8 Zodiac Patrons linked with the Ox (e.g. 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997) and the Tiger (1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998). Kokuzo (Sanskirt = Akasagarbha) represents wisdom, memory, and the granting of wishes; also known as the patron of craftspeople and artisans; left hand holds lotus spear surmounted by the sacred wish-granting jewel; right hand in Fear Not Mudra, a gesture symbolizing the bestowal of protection to Buddhist followers.
