shi zhi 氏 The character shi (or zhi) 氏, (K867a *đi̯ĕg / źiḙ; EMC, düiĕ / düi or t‚iă / t‚i) which replaces it in the transcriptions of the Hanshu and Hou Hanshu can be read as: ‘family’, ‘line’, ‘sir,’ and was very frequently used as a shorthand way to represent the (Da) Yuezhi (大)月氏. http://depts.washington.edu/silkroad/texts/hhshu/notes13.html
